Hopefully picking up where their excellent Imagineering series left off, Disney+ is going to launch Behind the Attraction, a 10 episode run of documentaries that will explore the history of some of the most iconic attractions and rides at Disney theme parks. These will include classics like the Jungle Cruise and modern experiences like Rise Of The Resistance at Star Wars, Galaxy’s Edge.

Narrated by Paget Brewster, Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia are executive producers via Seven Bucks Productions while Brian Volk-Weiss (The Toys That Made Us) directs.

Volk-Weiss commented on Behind The Attraction in a statement:

“Getting to work with Disney AND Seven Bucks has not only been the honor of my career, it was also a LOT of fun, which I hope people will feel when they watch the show!”

Behind the Attraction will also raid the archives for interviews with Walt Disney himself, and tap into the memories of Disney legends of Imagineering like Bob Weis, Jeanette Lomboy, Kim Irvine, Scott Trowbridge, and Joe Rohde. It is being touted as the most comprehensive look behind the scenes, at insider secrets, and into the history of the rides that have ever been committed to film.

Episodes will include The Haunted Mansion and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror transformation to Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT!

Here is the official blurb:

“Peek beyond the magic of Disney Parks to discover what’s Behind the Attraction! From Executive Producers Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Brian Volk-Weiss, explore how Imagineers filled the Haunted Mansion with 999 happy haunts, how the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ transformed into Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! (while defying gravity in the process) and why Space Mountain took so long to launch. From the 1950s to today, from Jungle Cruise to “it’s a small world” to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disney Parks attractions have amazed millions. And this is the story of how they did it.”

All 10 episodes of Behind the Attraction hit Disney+ on July 16. Sounds like a binge.
