HBO has released the teaser trailer for the third season of its acclaimed dark comedy series Barry starring Bill Hader.

Co-created by Hader and Alec Berg, Barry has racked up thirty Emmy nominations over its first two seasons and six wins, including an Outstanding Lead Actor victory for Hader.

Now, after a three-year pandemic-induced hiatus, Barry returns for its third season. Hader’s contract killer-turned-actor continues to escape his old ways, but his violent past proves more complicated to leave behind than he expects.

Here’s the trailer:

HBO’s official blurb reads:

“Desperate to leave his violent past behind in favor of his newfound passion, Barry (Hader) is attempting to untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in acting. But getting out is messy. While Barry has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren’t the only forces at play. What is it about his own psyche that led him to become a killer in the first place? Season three finds Barry and the other characters trying to make the right choice.”

Alongside Hader, Barry also sees the returns of Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan, and Henry Winkler. Sarah Burns also comes back as a series regular, with D’Arcy Carden and Michael Irby.

HBO confirmed last month that an April premiere date was set for the third season. Filming on the season began back in August, though Hader confirmed that season four has also been written.

Barry returns to HBO on April 24th with the first of its eight episodes.
