Everybody knows who the next big-bad is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is, after all, a movie on the slate called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However there is also a saga capper in the publicised timeline titled Avengers: Secret Wars.
Kang is introduced in next years Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania and clearly will be sticking around for while, so who will be the main threat by the time Secret Wars rolls around? And how?
According to the internet, the answer won’t land well with Marvel purists. Now, this is the internet so you know the drill by now. We need one of these…
Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, commonly known as Secret Wars for short, is a twelve-issue American comic book crossover limited series published from May 1984 to April 1985 by Marvel Comics. The series was written by Jim Shooter, with art by Mike Zeck and Bob Layton. They don’t like to admit it, but it was primarily created to sell toys via a tie-in with Mattel.
It was created by committees and focus groups because kids responded positively to the words “secret” and “wars” and was designed from the ground up around vehicles and fortresses to base toys upon.
It features almost the entire roster of Marvel heroes and villains, including Fantastic Four and the X-Men, being transported against their will by an all powerful entity known as The Beyonder to a place called Battle World, where good vs evil are to fight as part of some kind of science experiment.
It features several huge moments that shaped the Marvel comics going forward such as Spider-Man finding his black symbiote suit, and The Thing being replaced in Fantastic Four by She-Hulk.
According to these rumors swirling online, The Beyonder will still be the villain of the piece as he was in the comics. However rather than a mysterious cosmic entity, he will be a Kang variant, retrofitting the entire endeavour back to Kang, meaning he serves as the villain in one form and another across several phases just as Thanos did.
Until confirmed, treat these rumors accordingly.
