After the last couple of underwhelming trailers, is it third time lucky for Avatar: The Way Of Water? The final trailer dropped during Monday Night Football.
The sequel to the James Cameron’s sci-fi behemoth is set more than a decade after the events of Avatar. This is the first of four planned sequels. The third film has already been shot, and two more are expected if these live up to box office expectations.
The movie will follow Sully’s family and the lengths they go to keep each other safe. When an old enemy returns to Pandora they will be forced to leave their home and explore new regions of Pandora.
Sigourney Weaver returns, but this time she plays Jake and Neytiri’s adopted teenage daughter Kiri. Stephen Lang is back as Colonel Miles Quaritch despite his death in the first movie, so there will be some Avatar related shennaigans here. Also starring are Kate Winslet, CCH Pounder, Cliff Curtis, Matt Gerald, Joel David Moore, Giovanni Ribisi, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Jemaine Clement, Jack Champion, Dileep Rao, Filip Geijo, and Duane Evans Jr.
Still looks like a giant video game cut scene full of uncanny valleys and weightless motion to me.
Avatar: The Way of Water will be releasing worldwide in cinemas around December 16th.
