OK, I admit it, I have been a bit down on Avatar 2. I have struggled to understand how a movie like Avatar can reign supreme at the box-office for over a decade, but leave such a minuscule cultural impact behind. I cannot find anyone who has an annual re-watch of Avatar as they are such a fan. I definitely can’t find anyone who is breathlessly waiting for three or more sequels. Even the fact that the movie is in production seems to have zero buzz.
However I am clearly just a MASSIVE kid because show me some hardware, especially futuristic military hardware with guns, and suddenly I am warming to the idea. This is what they have done. New concept art from the Avatar sequels is online at the franchise’s official Twitter account.
It shows a new underwater mech known as the ‘Crabsuit’ and is one of the many new RDA vehicles seen in the films.

We know Cameron is indulging in his damp hobbies in this movie and making Pandora’s oceans central to at least Avatar 2. Looks like Jake and family flee to the oceans when the bad humans return to Pandora and they will hunt him there.
Filming recently restarted in New Zealand on the films with the second, third and part of the fourth currently being worked on. The production had already released an image of some gunboats being readied for use.
Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, and Matt Gerald are all returning to be joined by Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Vin Diesel, Jermaine Clement, and Oona Chaplin. Jermain Clement already replied to the tweet that he wants one of these vehicles.
Avatar 2 is aiming for a December 17th 2021 release in cinemas.
