Today Is A Slow News Day

British-Iranian director Babak Anvari (Under The Shadow) returns with the Blumhouse produced English-language horror, Wounds.

Ahead of its premiere on Hulu next month, a trailer has arrived online for the supernatural thriller which stars Armie Hammer as a bartender who becomes plagued by disturbing and mysterious happenings after picking up a phone left at his bar.

Watch the trailer here:

A brief synopsis reads:

“Disturbing and mysterious things begin to happen to a bartender in New Orleans after he picks up a phone left behind at his bar.”

The movie has recently done the rounds at the film festivals but has been universally savaged by critics. For example, The Guardian gave it 2 stars and said:

“Armie Hammer is a New Orleans bartender sucked through a cosmic portal in a J-horror-influenced misfire by Under the Shadow’s Babak Anvari.”

The trailer doesn’t exactly help its case, it comes across as a standard-fare Blumhouse horror that is more laughable than scary. Hopefully, there is more to it than this.

Wounds is set for release on March 29th in the US and feature a cast that includes Dakota Johnson (Bad Times At The El Royale), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Karl Glusman (Love), and Brad William Henke (Orange Is The New Black).
