I enjoyed the hell out of Aquaman.  It was so crazy it just worked!  It looked amazing, it held nothing back and put it all on-screen and seemed to play totally straight, but knowing full-well it was as camp as a row of pink tents so had fun with itself.

It also brought us unfeasibly hot Amber Heard before troubling allegations surfaced in the Depp divorce trial that she might occupy a certain quadrant on the hot/crazy scale.

Now the exhaustingly named writer of the first movie, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, has got bored in COVID19 self-isolation and held an unexpected Q&A session on social media.

Spin off The Trench was planned after the monsters that dwell there were such a big hit in the first movie.

He says this plan remains on track, that it will be set between the first and the second movie but that:

“…pieces of this is still being worked out…”

Ao no dates will be set yet.  Better news on the Aquaman sequel as this remains on course for 2022 and when asked plot he responded:

“We’re not taking any one particular comic book story and adapting it, but if you want to know the vibe we’re going for, pick up pretty much any Silver Age story featuring Black Manta. It [the script] is going good! I’m texting with [James Wan] about the draft of the script right now — I think you’re gonna dig it.”

Watchmen actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will return as Black Manta alongside most of the original cast.
