Avatar is finally going to get some competition at the box office next month, as the Marvel bandwagon starts to roll once again. Phase 4 is over… thank Thanos… and Phase 5 begins. The first instalment in the phase is Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania.

Ant Man 3 Kang

After lot’s of messing around and playing with itself for an entire Phase, Marvel finally introduces a new “big bad” in the form of Kang The Conqueror, hopefully able to provide a coherent threat and unify the direction in a way that was sorely missing from Phase 4 after the Infinity Saga.

Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) re-team with Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) to explore the Quantum Realm. According to the blurb they will:

“Interact with strange new creatures, and embark on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible. But they aren’t alone there, and someone has sinister plans for them.”

Jonathan Majors introduced a variant of Kang as “He Who Remains” in the final episode of Loki, in which he spoke of far, far worse version of himself having been kept under control.

The new trailer shows us more than the previous teasers and includes a first look at MODOK.

Peyton Reed returns to direct Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania. David Dastmalchian, William Jackson Harper, Katy O’Brian, and Bill Murray round out the cast.

Ant-Man & Wasp: Quantumania is set for a February 17th 2023 theatrical release.
