It turns out Andor returns another character. Stellan Skarsgard was giving a radio interview back home in his native Sweden when he let slip that a fan-favorite character will return from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: Rebels, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
While appearing on Sverigesradio.se he revealed he had shot a big scene with none other than Forest Whitaker. This confirms rumors that Saw Gerrera would appear and that Whitaker had been seen on set.
The show is said to be an espionage tale told in the Star Wars universe, following rebel spy, freedom fighter, and all-round murky character Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) years before the events of Rogue One. The Empire will, we imagine, be in it’s infancy at this time post Revenge Of The Sith.
Tony Gilroy serves as showrunner on the series which also stars Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly. The twelve-episode series is expected in 2022, so may follow or precede The Mandalorian Season 3 on Disney+.
Filming is taking place at Pinewood Studios, London, and on location around England and Scotland. Vanity Fair writer and The Americans writer/producer Stephen Schiff was hired as showrunner. Schiff was replaced by Rogue One co-writer Gilroy as creator and showrunner in April 2020. Is this Lucasfilm bad management rearing its head again? Another creative refusing to tow whatever line the failing Lucasfilm story group cooked up?
We hope not!
