Disney+ has shared several new images from its upcoming series American Born Chinese. This is a coming of age action-comedy with the myths and legends of Chinese fantasy woven into the story. It is based on the 2006 graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang.
According to the press releases:
“The story follows Jin Wang (Ben Wang), a seemingly average teenager who struggles to balance his high school social life with his family life.
However, when he meets a new foreign student on the first day of the school year, worlds will collide as he becomes entangled in a battle of Chinese mythical gods.”
Mythical Chinese legends battling right under our Western noses? So Big Trouble In Little China, with kids? Big Trouble In Little China 90210? Degrassi Junior Little China? Harry Potter And The Big Trouble In Little China? OK, I will stop now.
