Alien is a perfect set of two movies. The first one is one of the greatest horror movies ever made and the sequel is then a great action movie. Since then, they have mostly been forgettable. Different directors, interference with production, just not a great set of movies post the second installment.
Alien: Covenant came out in 2017 and was pretty much slated by everyone. It was one of those movies that just feels like one too many. There are a lot of them these days, which reminds me, Scream 6 is out soon.
Well, the series just won’t stop. We reported a little while ago that a new Alien movie was in the works. Fede Alverez will be writing and directing. He is known for the 2013 Evil Dead remake and Don’t Breathe. I know people rave about Don’t Breathe. It was a great concept, right up until the “girl in the basement” part, where I think I had to switch it off as it was such a stupid premise.
The new, as yet untitled, Alien project has added a new cast member. Isabela Merced has signed up to star. Merced is best known for playing Dora in the live-action version of Dora the Explorer and, more recently, Juliet in Rosaline.
She joins the cast of Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, David Jonsson, and Alieen Wu. Merced is, *checks her age*, very beautiful and turning out to be quite the actress.
Very little is known about the new Alien movie, but according to reports, it follows:
“…a group of young people on a distant world find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
The movie is headed straight to Hulu like Prey, and reports say, it’s taking a toned-down approach, with fewer effects and trying to focus more on the characters. Here’s hoping!
