Mere minutes after lead Rosario Dawson’s birthday, Lucasfilm has announced the start of production on the new Star Wars show Ahsoka for the Disney+.

Filming is now underway in Los Angeles on Lucasfilm’s virtual stage, known as The Volume.

Dawson reprises her role as Jedi Ahsoka Tano alongside Hayden Christensen as her former mentor Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo is Sabine Wren. Ray Stevenson, Ivanna Sakhno, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead also join the cast.

The character of Ahsoka is a real fan favorite from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, first appearing in live-action form in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

The series follows season three of The Mandalorian and is rumored to center on Admiral Thrawn and potentially the character of Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka is expected to premiere sometime in 2023.
