In a feature interview in The Hollywood Reporter they were talking with Ben Affleck about his career to date. The actor, director and Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Good Will Hunting was talking about the Hollywood machine.
When they discussed 2003’s Daredevil Affleck then went on to discuss the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it is now, and he made a clear statement. He believes the greatest producer in Hollywood in Disney / Marvel’s Kevin Feige.

“Kevin Feige is absolutely, you have to say, the greatest producer, most successful producer who ever lived. He’s the only guy in the world who, if he told me, ‘I know what the audience wants! This is what we’re doing,’ I would believe him 100%.”

Affleck went on to say that Feige is a genius who knows his audience like no other producer before him. Affleck and Feige worked together on Daredevil. He said that with the current MCU he believes that Feige has managed to perfectly find the tone in each Marvel entry and compared him to:

“…the ringmaster at the circus. He knows exactly how much to wink at the audience, exactly when to pull at the heartstrings, exactly when to do the effects, how many jokes, what the sensibility, what the tone is.”

Affleck spoke of unexpected difficulties in getting this right in a superhero movie, and what an achievement it is:

“Because people didn’t know to run away from the pyjamas or embrace it, or make it serious.”

The shareholders and the Disney overlords would agree. There has been a lot of cash funneled their way from Feige’s efforts in the “pyjama” movies. His box-office total as at Marvel Studios combines to over $26.8 billion. Kerching!!!
