The moment we heard JJ Abrams was moving to Warner Bros. with a new deal we suspected the DCEU and wider world of DC would be on his menu. Flashbacks to Superman: Flyby scripts were frequent.
Now the first signs of a move in this direction may be coming out of Warner Bros. Bad Robot and Warner Media are teaming to work on ideas for a Justice League Dark universe covering both movies and TV.
Meetings are set with writing and talent representatives to line up people with characters and projects.
Warners looked at Justice League Dark in the past and Doug Liman was involved, as was everybody’s favourite tequila salesman Guillermo del Toro.
Rumoured plot for the Del Toro version was that ancient tomes being stolen by a villain aiming to kill off humanity forced John Constantine to assemble the dark mirror image of the Justice League. This would include Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, Etrigan the Demon and Madama Xanadu.
This is expected to be a gateway drug for Bad Robot into the DCEU with strong rumours of something involving Green Lantern to be first cab off the rank.
