Back on our screens in season 3 of Westworld on HBO, Breaking Bad and El Camino Star Aaron Paul has been talking about the one role he covets above all.  He wants to play Kurt Cobain if a biopic of the Nirvana musician is ever made.

It is a role he says he has been dreaming of ever since he first moved to LA in 1997.

Paul made this admission to NME in a recent interview, claiming:

“When I first moved to LA, I thought quite a bit about Kurt Cobain and what happened and I just love Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit was one of the first records I bought with my own money, so I’ve thought that could be interesting [to play Cobain].”

The songwriter died at the age of 27 in his home in Seattle, Washington, on April 5, 1994 in an apparent suicide.

With genre defining music, a troubled star and a tragic end it seems ripe for the biopic treatment.  With everything from Straight Outta’ Compton to Bohemian Rhapsody making good money with a high margin it’s fair to say the odds are better than even on a Nirvana movie at some point.

Paul isn’t the first actor to name a music star they would love to play.  This last week Daniel Radcliffe admitted that he really wants to play David Bowie.

“If you’re talking like dream thing, who would it be fun to play and which songs it would be great to sing, then I suppose it’d be David Bowie. But I’m not actually submitting myself for that.”

However he did note:

“I don’t think I’d be good, and I certainly think there are people that’d be better. And also, we don’t need to make a film about everyone’s life.”
