A Quiet Place was kind of a sleeper hit. Directed by Jim from The Office, John Krasinski, it caught people’s imaginations. It wasn’t perfect, but was made a meagre budget of $17 million and turned over $340 million at the worldwide box office.

A Quiet Place 2 then came out 3 years later, this time costing $160 million to make, raking in just under $300 million at the box office. Not bad for a squeal.

So Paramount has just announced that A Quiet Place 3 is in development, along with a few other projects, as part of their big presentation at CinemaCon.

The plot of A Quiet Place 3 is under wraps, but it thought to be set early on in the alien invasion, when the creatures first arrive. The first Quiet Place was set a few years down the line, where people had learned to survive without making any sound.

There are also conflicting reports that this third one might be set after the second movie and it’s going to be all-out war with the aliens. We’ll have to wait and see what actually happens.

The first movie starred Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe. The second movie featured Cillian Murphy, Scoot McNairy, and Djimon Houson.

Krasinski directed the first two movies, but the third one will be directed by Pig helmer Michael Sarnoski. Pig was very “quiet” and seemed like in the same style of the first two Quiet Place movies, so might this third one go the same way? Or will it turn into a huge action movie?

It’s thought the third movie will be a spin-off, set somewhere else, and not have any of the Abbott family back. There has been on no cast announcement yet. The first movie was pretty good, the second was OK, but wasn’t really needed. Now, do we really need a third movie as a spin-off? What do you think?
