A Christmas Story is a classic. One of these sentimental movies about the magic of Christmas as a child. Well, HBO Max thinks we take those precious memories and squeeze some more money out of them.

A Christmas Story Christmas is a sequel to the original. It features Peter Billingsley, now 51, starring again as Ralphie Parker. The movie goes back to where the kids grew up and a few familiar faces are back.

The story to A Christmas Story Christmas sees Ralphie:

“…return to the house on Cleveland Street to deliver his kids a magical Christmas like the one he had growing up. With the same attention-to-real-life tone of the first, Ralphie reconnects with childhood friends, reconciles the passing of his Old Man and sows the seeds for the origins of the beloved holiday classic.”

I expected to see the expression “cash grab” in there. Seeing the trailer I feel bad for Billingsley since he’s just trying to be the same character he was when he was a youngster.

This isn’t the first sequel they have made to A Christmas Story. There have been several TV movies described as sequels by the American Playhouse. Original director, Bob Clark, also directed My Summer Story in 1994 with Kieran Culkin as Ralphie. It went straight to video.

Below are some images from the trailer.

This sequel will be streaming on 17th Nov on HBO Max.
